Curlew on the Severn Ham

Tewkesbury Town Council is pleased to be able to report that the Curlews have returned to the Severn Ham – spring is here! Curlews, Skylarks and Redshanks, which have all bred, or attempted to breed, on the Ham in recent years, nest on the ground and are, therefore, very vulnerable to disturbance.

Signs are in place to remind visitors to keep to the footpaths, especially when the grass is long and requesting that dogs are kept on a lead so that the curlews aren’t disturbed during their nesting season.

For more information about curlew, please visit www.curlewcall.org or if you would like to report seeing the curlew – we are particularly interested on where on the Ham you have seen them, please post below!
