Tewkesbury Leisure Centre is open for business

Tewkesbury Leisure Centre is welcoming customers back following the end of lockdown restrictions on Wednesday, 2 December.

The team at Places Leisure, who manage the leisure centre on behalf of Tewkesbury Borough Council, has worked tirelessly throughout the lockdown to create a Covid-secure environment for customers and staff.

Newly-introduced measures include more safety signage, face coverings for employees, enhanced cleaning regimes, hand sanitising and cleaning stations, and regulating visitor numbers with an online booking system for all activities.

Matt Cotton, General Manager of Tewkesbury Leisure Centre, said: “We are delighted to open our doors once again and, judging by feedback we’ve received so far, our customers are incredibly eager to return to their centre. We’re looking forward to welcoming back as many visitors as we can safely accommodate, which will hopefully contribute to the wellbeing and health of our community. We, along with Tewkesbury Borough Council, cannot wait to see you soon.”

Councillor Richard Stanley, Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: “Being able to stay fit greatly benefits our mental health and physical wellbeing. The safety measures taken to reopen our leisure centre are welcome news, so why not blow off those post-lockdown cobwebs and enjoy some exercise ahead of Christmas!”
