Gloucester County Council relaxes Blue Badge renewal Dates

Blue Badge renewal dates relaxed

Gloucestershire County Council is working to support people with disabilities at this challenging time by relaxing rules on Blue Badge renewal.

Blue Badge holders with a blue badge expiration date of 1 January 2020 onwards can now continue to use their expired badge while they apply for a new one.

The Blue Badge team are still working and will process any renewals received. As the team are working remotely there may be a delay in processing paper applications, so badge holders are encouraged to apply online wherever possible.

Cllr Kathy Williams, cabinet member for adult social care delivery at Gloucestershire County Council said: “Lots of people rely on their Blue Badges to help them stay independent, which is especially important during these difficult times. We know people have a lot to worry about at the moment – and we hope this change will help.

“This will hopefully help vulnerable residents and those shielding at home to continue staying safe, while those making essential trips can continue to park closer to their destination”.

The relaxation of enforcement will continue initially until 30 September 2020.
