An event every day that begins at 10:00am, repeating until 25/01/2020
Please help us support AUSTRALIA
Councillors will be fundraising throughout the week by holding a continuous ‘Bring and Buy’ Sale and a Silent Auction in the Town Hall on the following days;-
Wednesday 22nd 12.00 – 7.00pm
Thursday 23rd 10.00 – 3.00 pm
Friday 24th 10.00 – 3.00pm
Saturday 25th 10.00 – 3.00pm
Donations of cash or easily managed, saleable goods for either the sale or the Auction can be brought into the Town Hall on any of these days. We will also be offering the usual tea, coffee and chat.
All money raised through the Sale and Auction will be passed to Envoy Paul Stanford of the Salvation Army who will send it to the Australian Salvationists who are working directly with those affected by these fires and know their immediate needs.
In 1788 on 26th January a fleet of 11 ships from England landed in Sidney Cove and this day is now known as Australia Day, Australia’s National Day of Celebration.
Those ships carried our convicts who were the beginning of settlement in this new country.
This year Councillors of Tewkesbury Town Council would like to help you send your financial support to this country and its people to help alleviate the terrible conditions that exist due to the ongoing vast bushfires.
Below is a link to a Just Giving page to New South Wales Regional Fire Service to directly support the fire service ‘Firies’ the work they are doing and their families. Most of the Australian Fire Fighters are volunteers and as we know some of them have been badly injured or even lost their lives and now, because of the length of this situation, they could lose their paid jobs, and ultimately their homes.
